The tale of Porsche could begin in 1950 with the introduction of the Porsche 356 to the US by Max Hoffman. It may begin in 1948, when the 1st vehicle carrying the name of Porsche came out. To get a genuine grip on the heritage of Porsche, you should go back as far as 1875. In Sep of that year, Ferdinand Porsche was born in the bohemian town of Haffersdorf. Ferdinand Porsche showed suggestions of his technical genius at the age of eighteen when he wired the family home for electricity.

His only formal education was received when he was a part time engineering student in Vienna, though the title ‘Doctor’ is commonly appended to his name. By the time he was 25, Porsche had gone into auto design. The Viennese firm of Loyner & Corp accepted his first car design. Over the following 20 years, he successfully associated himself with each major automobile manufacturer in Germany, and he designed about twelve of the most technically important vehicles in history at the same time.

When he worked for Mercedes-Benz, he helped create the SSK series, while for NSU; he designed the automobile Union Rambled and the Type 32, which as an ancestor of the Volkswagen Beetle. His disagreements with Mercedes-Benz over the organization’s engineering policies inspired him to create his very own engineering group, which became Porsche A.G. He picked up a premier group of engineers to work using the nom-de-plume of “Doctor of Engineering Ferdinand Porsche, Inc Construction Facility for Land, Air, and Sea Transportation” in Stuttgart. His child, Ferry, was one of his employees, and his major interest was in sport and racing vehicles. The elder Porsche and his engineers were busy. They developed for Steyr, a luxury sedan in Austria, but this automobile didn’t make it out of the prototype stage. They also worked for car Union, which is now Audi, the firm that made the Front, the 1st front wheel drive economy auto in the planet. They also made the mid-engine Grand Prix autos and turbocharged V-12 and V-16 engines. These, together with the racers from Mercedes-Benz, controlled Western European vehicle racetracks for about 10 years. The company made its most well known designs for NSU and Zundapp. Neither of the firms made the designs, so Porsche sold the idea to the German govt. He then provided the oversight on the development of a plant in Wolfsburg to build the design. He called it the Type sixty, but the world knows it as the Volkswagen Beetle. After World War II, the Porsche Company started to make the automobiles that now bear the name of Porsche. Virtually 100 years on, Porsche became the marque, and the family that developed the unique and lasting contributions to car design and engineering has gone down in history.
